HUST - North Campus

Stadium ExitHUST recently completed a brand-new sports complex on the North Campus. We wanted to show you the Chinese characters for "entrance" and "exit," but they are so small in the photo that you probably can't see them. We will get a better picture up later.

Coal Tower

We wanted you to see the large pile of coal that we pass on the way to the Dazhang Market. The building just to the left of the coal is a heating plant with many turbines. We assume that the heat is generated for the student dormitories, one of which you can see in the background of this photo. The tower's function is unknown to us at the present time.

Smokestack

This smokestack rises just to the right of the coal bin. We actually put this one up mainly for Mark Williams, who collects pictures of smokestacks. The building on the left is the same student dorm that you see in the previous picture

Deanna Exercise

Exercise equipment shows up in the parks, on campus, and even next to our apartment building. The Chinese are very keen on keeping fit. Deanna looks as though she is really enjoying the ride!

Lee Exercise

Since we had a picture of Deanna on the exercise equipment, Lee wanted to have his picture taken too. Karen, compare this to your Cardio Glide!!

Chalk Sign

We really have no idea as to the content of this sign, but the work involved in making it impressed Lee and so...here is the last picture for our walk. If you look at the bottom of the sign you will see that there is a metal railing. We suspect that when the students return to campus, many more of these signs will appear. The may just be telling the students the menu for the cafeteria. Colored chalks have been used to make the sign.
